Benefits
Updating the bus network will result in significant improvements to the existing services. The proposed changes will benefit the local community with a bus network that:

- delivers more direct services to the University of Newcastle, John Hunter Hospital and major shopping centres,
- offers more travel opportunities by connecting with railway stations,
- provides consistent and regular services,
- operates at reasonable frequencies; and
- is accessible to the majority of the community.
Additional benefits are:
- new direct services to many suburbs,
- more direct services from Charlestown to Newcastle CBD,
- new high frequency priority corridor services operated by low floor, wheel chair accessible, air conditioned Volvo Buses
School bus services will be assessed during the planning process and school communities will be consulted about any proposed changes.
Night Owl services will continue to operate. The community will be notified in advance if any changes are proposed to these services.
