Recruitment Process
It is essential applicants complete all parts of the application form, provide written responses to the additional questions, attach a recent (within 4 weeks) RTA driving history and completed Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Declaration Form. Incomplete applications may result in an applicant being declined.All written applications will be assessed against the following eligibility criteria:
- Is willing to work all shifts relevant to the position.
- Is an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Has recent and regular driving experience.
- Has held an Australian Unrestricted Driver’s licence for 12 months of the last 2 years (New Zealand Bus Drivers with equivalent Bus Driver Authority Card are exempt)
- Has a good RTA driving history (refer to the leaflet “Looking for a good job”).
- Has completed all parts of the application form as required.
- Relevant work or life experience.
- Stable work or life history.
- Safe Driving Record
- Responses to Additional Questions
Those who successfully pass the two tests will be booked for a final interview with the selection panel.
The panel will then recommend applicants for appointment, who will need to undergo the following pre-employment checks prior to induction:
- Working with Children check
- Application for Ministry of Transport Authority Card
- Pre-employment Medical Assessment
- Reference Checks
At the completion of the above pre-employment checks, successful candidates will be informed of the start date for their induction into State Transit.
